Child, as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling, remember that we are justified by faith in Christ. Consider the white clean rag that Mom uses to wipe your face after a sweaty day outside. What a balm in Gilead! In comparison, on another day, your Mother will take that same white clean rag and rub it in the dirt and garbage, so much so that it will reek with a pungent smell. I will take that filthy rag and try to rub it to your face. What would you do? You would be utterly revolted and resist with your life!


But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6
